tochi / Japanese Horse Chestnut

This Tochi tree appears in famous children's book “mochimochi tree” in Japan. Seed tochi is also known as Tochi Mochi and this has been used for our foos since the Jomon period. By the reason that the skin is as fine and beautiful as a woman's skin, it is often used in various materials such as furnitures, constructions, musical instruments, bowls and trays. In particular, the ones in which the shrinkage appears are prized to use for tea utensils and craft materials.
